Weightless is the culmination of 21 years of life, 8 years of living with and fighting my demon, and 4 months of visual reflection.  Creating this piece was never easy--many times it forced me to confront things that I had happily buried in favor of never facing them. There have been tears of sadness and frustration and happiness, but today I can publish this piece with pride knowing that my demon will grow a little quieter each day.

This project was meant to be cathartic, but also to dispel the many outrageous, glamorized, and glorified representations we see of eating disorders in the media today.  It is important to note, however, that my story is just that: a single story among millions of stories that should be considered in this conversation. I hope that this piece will give you an understanding deeper than the shallow, one-episode interpretation of eating disorders we are fed. I hope that if you are struggling, you will see that you are not alone and that you are enough just for being you and that you deserve a life beyond your eating disorder.  I can promise you it gets better.
